Romy Reiner seen in public for first time after parents’ murders

Romy Reiner celebrates birthday after grim parents’ murder

After Nick Reiner allegedly slit the throats of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, the first person who discovered their bodies was reportedly their daughter, Romy Reiner.

The grim murder happened on Dec 14.

Past weeks must have been a shock for the family, particularly Romy, who informed the police about the killing and pointed fingers at her brother, Nick.

He is now under arrest as a trial is in process. Amid this, the slain couple’s daughter broke cover after nearly two weeks in public to celebrate a feat in the wake of the shocking incident.

According to Daily Mail, she marks her 28th birthday at a beach house, surrounded by her inner circle. Alex Silberberg, who is dating her, in snaps, also potted walking on the beach.

Meanwhile, Nick has pleaded not guilty to the two counts of first-degree murder charges. Given his past substance abuse and mental health issues, speculations ramp up that he will plead for insanity.

Though his lawyer Alan Jackson did not comment on this, Neama Rahmani, a lawyer, believes, “To be found not guilty by reason of insanity, that is a very difficult legal hurdle to overcome in California.”

He further tells People, “You have to prove, between disease or defect, that the defendant does not know the nature and consequences of his actions. Essentially, you have to show that the defendant doesn’t know right from wrong.”

Neama Rahmani concludes by adding, ” Pleading insanity does not guarantee lenient sentencing. “Jurors almost always reject this defense. It only works a very small percentage of the time.”
