Cynthia Erivo deems her vocal health nonnegotiable, especially amid the busiest stretches of her career.
The Wicked star, 38, recently detailed the strict regimen she follows to protect her voice while juggling film promotion, music, and Broadway-level stage work.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress revealed she makes sure to neither drink alcohol nor smoke nor eat on airplanes to avoid irritating her vocal cords.
Instead, she travels with her own tea and water in a favourite mug she carries everywhere to ensure constant hydration. She joked that someone even made a meme about her mug.
On the work front, Erivo has performances lined up at Coachella, ongoing promotions for her June album, an appearance in Poker Face, and preparation for her one-woman stage production of Dracula, which runs in London from February 4 to May 31.
Beyond Dracula, Erivo’s slate includes the film adaptations of Prima Facie and Children of Blood and Bone, the latter set for a January 15, 2027, theatrical release.
Despite the packed schedule, she says she rarely takes breaks and only turns down roles that don’t offer personal or artistic growth.
She’s also a Golden Globe nominee in the Best Female Actor: Musical or Comedy category for the upcoming January 11 ceremony.
