George Clooney says the Ocean’s Eleven crew will return older but still sharp in the upcoming sequel.
The actor, 64, made the admission in a recent interview with Variety, as he confirmed that a fourth installment of the heist franchise, tentatively titled Ocean’s 14, is moving forward.
Much of the original cast is expected to return, including Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle. Clooney says the new film will lean into the characters’ age rather than ignore it.
“There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something,” Clooney said.
He added that Danny Ocean and his crew have “lost a step” and will need to “work around their limitations.”
The sequel is partly inspired by the 1979 film Going in Style, which centered on older characters pulling off a crime.
Warner Bros. has reportedly approved the budget, and scheduling is now the main hurdle. Production is tentatively planned to begin in October 2026.
The Ocean’s franchise started in 2001 with Steven Soderbergh’s remake of the 1960 Rat Pack film, followed by two sequels and the 2018 spin-off Ocean’s 8. A prequel about Danny Ocean’s parents is also in the works.
Clooney can currently be seen in Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly on Netflix and is set to appear in the upcoming French adaptation of Call My Agent!.
